My Plan for Thunder Bay

Smart Growth. Strong City.

Thunder Bay is at a crossroads.

For too long we've accepted slow growth, rising taxes, aging infrastructure, increasing crime, and missed economic opportunities as though they are inevitable. They are not.

After serving our community for 25 years on City Council, I know what works, what doesn't, and what it takes to move our city forward.

As your Mayor, my focus will be on one clear goal:

Grow Thunder Bay so everyone benefits.

Growing our population, creating jobs, attracting investment, and expanding our tax base are the keys to improving city services while reducing the burden on homeowners.

Growth isn't just about building more homes.

It's about building a stronger future.

Economic Growth & Good Jobs

A growing economy creates opportunities for everyone.

As Mayor I will work to:

  • Attract new businesses and employers.
  • Support local entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  • Encourage industrial and commercial investment.
  • Cut unnecessary red tape that delays development.
  • Promote Thunder Bay across Ontario and Canada as a great place to invest.

More investment means more jobs, higher wages, and more opportunities for our children to build their futures here instead of leaving.

Responsible Taxpayer Dollars

Every tax dollar should be treated with respect.

I believe residents deserve value for their money.

I will:

  • Demand responsible budgeting.
  • Prioritize projects that deliver long-term value.
  • Improve accountability at City Hall.
  • Focus spending on services residents actually use.
  • Look for efficiencies before asking taxpayers to pay more.

The solution to avoiding increased taxes is growing our tax base—not simply increasing taxes on the same homeowners year after year.

Safer Streets

Every resident deserves to feel safe in their neighbourhood.

Keeping our community safe requires cooperation between the City, police, social agencies, health care providers, businesses, and residents.

  • I will support initiatives that:
  • Improve neighbourhood safety.
  • Reduce repeat crime.
  • Address vandalism and property crime.
  • Support effective addiction and mental health strategies.
  • Improve lighting, visibility, and public spaces.
  • Ensure city resources are focused where residents need them most.

Safe communities attract families, businesses, and investment.

Better Roads & Infrastructure

Our roads, bridges, sidewalks, water systems, parks, and public facilities are essential to our quality of life.

I will focus on:

  • Long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Better road maintenance.
  • Strategic capital investments.
  • Expanding infrastructure to support future growth.
  • Protecting taxpayers by maintaining what we already own.

Growth without infrastructure doesn't work.

Infrastructure without growth becomes unaffordable.

Both must happen together.

Supporting Families

Strong communities begin with strong families.

I want Thunder Bay to be a city where young people choose to stay, raise families, and build careers.

  • That means supporting:
  • Recreation and parks.
  • Community organizations.
  • Quality neighbourhoods.
  • Good-paying jobs.
  • Safe public spaces.
  • Opportunities for future generations.

Open, Honest Leadership

Leadership starts with listening.

Throughout my years on Council, I've believed that elected officials should be accessible, accountable, and transparent.

As Mayor, I will continue to:

  • Listen to residents.
  • Return phone calls and emails.
  • Be visible throughout our community.
  • Make decisions based on facts.
  • Put Thunder Bay ahead of politics.

Residents deserve a Mayor who listens before making decisions.

Experience That Delivers Results

When I was first elected to City Council, I wasn't ready to be Mayor.

Today, after 25 years of experience serving our community, negotiating difficult decisions, balancing budgets, and working with every level of government, I am.

Thunder Bay doesn't need someone learning on the job.

Our city needs leadership that can begin delivering results on day one.

Together we can grow our economy, strengthen our neighbourhoods, improve our infrastructure, and build a safer, stronger Thunder Bay.

Smart Growth. Strong City.

Let's build the future our community deserves.
